Theme

The theme for TEDxTheWoodlands is Kaleidoscope Mind. Our amazing speakers come from diverse backgrounds and experiences, yet they all have in common minds that are pattern-seeking, playful and multi-faceted. They have an uncommon ability to draw upon their unique experiences and capabilities in playful and imaginative ways to discern patterns in their professional and personal lives, to derive meaning from them, and to create new patterns to enrich their world. They all have Kaleidoscope Minds.

It all depends on how we look at things, and not how they are in themselves.
– Carl Jung

In each of their 18-minute talks, the speakers will share their big idea.

They will also share insights into how they think. They will share with us how they use different mindful frameworks, heuristics and habits to:

    • understand the world
    • find meaning in their experiences
    • solve problems
    • create things of beauty and value
    • reach out to others

The amazing speakers will reveal a bit of their unique repertoires and how they employed them in their personal or professional lives.

Our amazing performers will similarly reveal their Kaleidoscope Minds through their artistry.

As we watch, listen and reflect upon the speakers and performers, we will have the opportunity to explore their repertoires and enhance our own. In this way, we will learn new ways to understand and engage our world and to nurture the Kaleidoscope Mind in each of us.

The question is not what you look at, but what you see.
– Henry David Thoreau

What is TEDx?

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxTheWoodlands, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxTheWoodlands event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
